ELEGANT LONDON WINTER WEDDING
Lydia & Jamie’s Winter Wedding
This time last year I was wrapping up Lydia and Jamie’s beautiful London wedding, my last one of the year, and starting to reflect on the wedding season I’d just had. I was preparing my “Wedding Highlights of 2019” post and taking a look at where my business stood and what I could improve on. I was also wondering what my 2020 weddings would look like, and feeling equally excited and grateful that for another year I was being trusted by so many couples to photograph one of the most important days of their lives.
2020 has been very different to how I envisioned it. The wedding industry, and everyone involved in it - from couples to suppliers - have had to deal with the monumental stress of re-scheduling weddings under the pressure of constantly changing guidelines.
Despite all of that, my excitement and gratitude are still there. Instead of reflecting on all the weddings I photographed this year, I think about how extra special all those rescheduled weddings will be next year. All the hugs, kisses and special moments will carry that bit of extra meaning after everything we’ve been through.
Lydia and Jamie’s was one of my favourite weddings of 2019, and a perfect one to end the year on. Most couples in England prefer the summery months (and I don’t blame them!), yet I think this wedding shows that the darker months can be just as special. Lydia and Jamie embraced the cold and celebrated their marriage with a cozy and elegant winter wedding in Mayfair. Their ceremony took place in a Christmassy St. Paul’s in Knightsbridge and was followed by a candle-lit wedding breakfast at The Savile Club.
Here are some of my favourite photos of the day.
