The Highlights of 2017

2017 Highlights

...and a New Year's resolution

I’ll be on the train on my back home from meeting with a couple in Central London, and there are times where as I look out of the window at the city passing by, I'm just overwhelmed with

gratitude.

That's how I feel about 2017.

I'm grateful for the couples that put their trust in me and let me experience and photograph such a special day of their lives. I'm grateful for Eleanor, my partner in life, for being so talented (and for landing her dream job!) and for helping me become a better person every day. I'm grateful for all of my family and my friends that I get to share such a special bond with, some of whom are halfway across the world in Puerto Rico.

I learned a lot about wedding photography this year, and I also found a few things I’d like to work on next year.

I’m making a resolution!

Lately, I've realised that my Instagram feed has turned into a bit of a copy of my website. I've been sharing a lot of wedding photos, which is great, but I'm posting far less about my personal life than I used to – and I want to change that. I’ve always said I’d never split my Instagram in two accounts (a personal one and a business one), but somewhere along the way, I strayed into over-sharing wedding photos with not-so-interesting-captions and sharing much less about what I've been up to outside of work. I used to post more travel photos, scenery, photos of family and friends – even what I was eating! Truth be told, I miss those photos. I miss sharing those little moments, because they're important to me. I don't want my Instagram to turn into a perfectly curated feed – there are enough of those out there!

I love what I do, and believe that who I am as a wedding photographer and who I am as a person go hand-in-hand. I shared a picture of myself on Instagram the other day, and was totally blown away by the response. I've learned that it's just as important to be proud of who I am as a person as it is to be proud of my wedding work. I can't wait to get back to sharing more with you, starting now.

Here are some of my favourite photos of 2017.
